4kings with skake up

Four Kings have officially confirmed the departure of three players from their Counter-Strike: Source team.
Changes have been rumoured for some time now, with Carlos “Dumbazo” Garcia Martinez’s long term commitment to the team under question due to a lack of motivation. HenryG moving to Crack Clan proved to be a Catalyst with both Dumbazo and Cauzed leaving the team permanently.

According to the Four Kings management, “We have already secured the extra 3 players to create a competitive line-up and the announcement for which will follow soon”. Speculation has already amounted to the new line-up which supposedly includes the i36 stand-in HudzG.

Statement from James "Pez" Perrot:
"It's sad to see all this hard work end after such a great event, we all played well and got on so well! However, end of this leads onto new adventures for us as 4Kings CSS and we will be in France this weekend for LAN79 with our new side! I'd like to thank Eamon especially, this 6/7 months with him has been the most fun I've ever had in CSS and I've met a friend for life in Eamon. Concerning Henry he's a great player and he really is a good mate but it was his time to move on, it's a shame as ideally I'd love to have stayed with the same roster at i36, however I'm looking forward to my new adventure! Carlos quit a long time before i36 and has been inactive since just featuring in the EPS games and I'd like to thank him also for all his time, commitment and stellar performances at the events we attended."
Starbytes has been a long time supporter of esports, in particular Counter Strike:Source, having hosted many events for the game sicne it's release including the WCG lan qualifiers. With their recent refit and expert admins at hand we are certain that this will be an evet to be remembered.

There will be atleast a £1200 prize pot and will be looking to increase with some big announcements to come. It will be a BYOC event but there are 8-10 PC's to rent but the entry fee will increase if this service is used.
Also there will be a sleeping area on the bottom floor for roughly 20 gamers! This will be first come first served so please let an admin know as early as possible if you require to sleep at the event.

Reason Gaming's CSS team have finally managed to win a title!

After many months of second places, Reason Gaming's CSS team have finally managed to win a title!

Having knocked dignitas into the lower bracket earlier in the day, Reason will certainly have feared a repeat of previous I-Series finals which saw dignitas come from the lower bracket to beat them over two maps.

Finally however a final did go there way, despite a strong come-back from dignitas in the second half. Reason had taken the CT side of dust2 13-2, but somehow the British team managed to even the game up, to push to overtime.

Reason did then manage to put their feet back on the gas so to speak, and managed to win 4-0, taking home their first title since Lan79, 49 weeks ago - and first under the name of Reason Gaming, with this new line-up.

Here are the final standings from the tournament:

ELSPA and GfK Chart-Track have announced the final sales date for 2008, showing that the UK video game industry has grown to a 4 billion pound market. Every console saw an increase in software sales compared to 2007, and both console and peripheral sales were up considerably.

Consoles £1.42 billion (+14%)
Peripherals £549 million (+82%)

Comparatively, the Times Online notes that video game sales eclipsed both music (£1.33 billion) and DVD sales (£2.4 billion) in 2008. Sony’s high definition Blu-Ray discs continue to grow, providing £66 million.

In terms of individual console sales, Nintendo predictably took the crown with £481 million on Nintendo DS and Wii, each. Xbox 360 followed the Wii close behind with £443 million and Playstation 3 with £334 million.

Total games sales £1.9 billion (+23%)
Wii £481 million (+112%)
XBox 360 £443 million (+38%)
PlayStation 3 £334 million (+115%)
Nintendo DS £481 million (+17%)

The sales data company, ChartTrack hasn’t issued the full list of best selling games in 2008, but the Christmas Number 1 went to EA’s FIFA 09, with Call of Duty: World at War and Mario Kart: Wii in tow.

Xbox cut prices

Xbox 360: Official Price Cut on Friday

Xbox 360Microsoft has officially announced a price cut of the Xbox 360 in Europe, leading in to the Christmas season.

Starting Friday, September 19th, all three versions of the Xbox 360 will be reduced in price.

The Arcade unit (which comes with a Memory Unit in lieu of a hard drive) will be reduced to £129.99.

The 60GB Model has dropped to £169.99 and the Elite (120GB hard drive) will be priced at £229.99

While the Arcade has been the cheapest console on the market for some time, now the 60GB version will join it as cheaper options than the Nintendo Wii.

“Xbox 360 has now sold over 20 million consoles worldwide and due to its unprecedented success, we are now able to pass on the rewards of that success to the consumer with a new retail pricing from £129.99”, said Neil Thompson, Senior Regional Director, Microsoft UK.

Check your favourite retailers on Friday, when the Xbox 360 will have its price slashed.
